Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager in the Packing Department for Large Volume Parenterals (LVP) is responsible for overseeing the packaging operations, ensuring compliance, and managing the efficient packaging of IV fluid products. The role includes leading the packing team, maintaining high-quality standards, and meeting operational targets.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Packaging Operations Management:
    Plan, organize, and coordinate all activities for the packaging of IV fluid products, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Compliance Assurance:
    Ensure compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during all packaging processes.

  • Team Supervision & Training:
    Supervise and train packaging staff to follow established protocols and ensure they maintain high standards of quality in packaging.

  • Equipment Monitoring:
    Monitor packaging lines and machinery, ensuring they function properly, are clean, and meet safety protocols.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    Work closely with production planning, quality control, and warehouse teams to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of packaged products.

  • Quality Inspections:
    Perform routine inspections of packaged products to ensure compliance with quality specifications and labeling requirements.

  • Problem Solving:
    Investigate packaging-related issues, non-conformances, and customer complaints, and assist in implementing corrective actions.

  • Inventory Management:
    Monitor the inventory of packaging materials, coordinating with procurement to ensure adequate stock levels for uninterrupted production.

  • Process Optimization:
    Monitor production schedules and optimize packaging processes to maximize productivity, minimize downtime, and improve efficiency.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by suggesting process enhancements, cost-saving measures, and efficiency improvements.

  • Documentation & Record-Keeping:
    Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all packaging activities, including batch records, packaging specifications, and any required documentation.


Qualifications and Skills:

  • Educational Background:
    Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, or a related field.

  • Experience:
    Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging operations, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant manager role.

  • Technical Knowledge:
    Solid understanding of packaging processes, equipment, and materials used in IV fluids or pharmaceutical products.

  • Regulatory Knowledge:
    In-depth knowledge of cGMP guidelines and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical packaging.

  • Equipment Expertise:
    Familiarity with automated packaging systems, labeling machines, and quality inspection equipment.

  • Leadership Skills:
    Strong leadership, management, and team-building abilities. Capable of motivating and guiding the team effectively.

  • Problem Solving & Decision Making:
    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret packaging data.

  • Communication Skills:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.

  • Software Proficiency:
    Proficiency in using Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and other production-related software.

  • Shift Flexibility:
    Flexibility to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required in the packaging environment.

  • Continuous Improvement Knowledge:
    Knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
