Laboratory Quality, Licensing & Accreditation Specialist

Location: Los Angeles, CA | Work Mode: On-site | Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Salary Range: $112,900 – $256,900 annually


Job Summary:

UCLA Health is seeking a highly motivated Laboratory Quality, Licensing & Accreditation Specialist to lead multidisciplinary compliance and quality initiatives across our clinical laboratory operations. In this impactful role, you’ll ensure regulatory excellence, guide policy implementation, and contribute to laboratory education and professional development within one of the nation’s top academic medical centers.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements (e.g., CLIA, CAP, CMS) across lab operations

  • Lead and conduct audits, assessments, and internal inspections to maintain accreditation readiness

  • Analyze quality metrics, review validation plans, and manage proficiency testing activities

  • Investigate nonconforming events to identify and mitigate systemic issues

  • Provide technical review support for UCLA laboratories and health systems

  • Create, implement, and update laboratory policies, processes, and SOPs

  • Mentor CLS students and professionals through structured education programs

  • Participate in onboarding, safety, and continuous improvement training initiatives

  • Evaluate trends in quality data and propose process improvements


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field (CLS certification preferred)

  • At least 5–7 years of experience in clinical laboratory operations and quality systems

  • In-depth knowledge of CLIA, CAP, and other healthcare regulatory bodies

  • Strong experience with audit preparation, data analysis, and process validation

  • Proficient in quality management systems and document control

  • Effective communication, leadership, and training capabilities

  • Passion for advancing laboratory standards and professional development
