Hospital Laboratory Technician III – BURL

Location: Panorama City, CA | Work Mode: On-site | Full-time, Career

Salary Range: $36.67 – $48.39 per hour


Job Summary:

UCLA Health is seeking a skilled and dependable Hospital Laboratory Technician III (HLTIII) to join the BURL team in Panorama City. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge pathology and laboratory medicine services in a high-impact evening shift role, including weekends and holidays. You will play a critical role in specimen processing, lab workflow coordination, and ensuring clinical lab quality and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process lab specimens including labeling, centrifuging, and aliquoting

  • Follow up on unacceptable specimens and ensure timely resolution

  • Perform accurate computer order entry and documentation

  • Assist supervisors with staff scheduling and operational logistics

  • Coordinate courier routes and follow up on delays

  • Serve as a Beaker CP SME (Subject Matter Expert)

  • Validate and implement new procedures, software, and lab equipment

  • Train lab staff on new or modified processes and assist with competency assessments

  • Maintain supply stock and ensure equipment and documentation compliance

  • Answer calls, provide accurate lab-related information, and perform clerical duties


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional lab certifications preferred

  • Minimum 2–4 years of experience in clinical or hospital laboratory setting

  • Familiarity with pathology workflows and lab information systems (e.g., Beaker)

  • Strong knowledge of specimen handling, processing, and lab safety standards

  • Excellent attention to detail and multitasking skills

  • Effective communication and team collaboration skills

  • Must be available to work Monday – Friday, 5:00 PM – 1:30 AM with rotating weekends and holidays
