Clinical Laboratory Supervisor – Phlebotomy

Location: Los Angeles, CA | Work Mode: On-site | Full-time, Career Track

Salary Range: $112,900 – $256,900 per year


Job Summary:

UCLA Health is seeking a driven and experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to lead our inpatient phlebotomy team and float pool at the prestigious Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. This leadership role requires strong operational oversight, team mentoring, and a passion for enhancing clinical lab excellence in a fast-paced healthcare environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily inpatient phlebotomy operations and float pool staff at Ronald Reagan Hospital

  • Ensure timely, safe, and efficient phlebotomy workflows

  • Assist with leadership duties in the Outpatient Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Lab

  • Uphold quality control standards and compliance with healthcare regulations

  • Implement best practices in testing protocols and patient safety

  • Mentor and develop Clinical Phlebotomy Technicians (CPTs) to achieve operational excellence

  • Collaborate across departments to streamline lab services and improve patient outcomes


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in medical technology, life sciences, or related field (preferred)

  • Valid California CPT license

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in clinical lab or phlebotomy, with 1–2 years in a supervisory or lead role

  • Strong understanding of hospital-based phlebotomy workflows

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team-building skills

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission)

  • Knowledge of EMR/LIS systems and lab safety standards
