🎯 Role Purpose

The Sr. Director – Global Medical Affairs is a key member of the Cardiometabolic Health Business Unit responsible for:

  • Strategic planning for launch and commercialization activities

  • Enhancing the customer experience (patients, HCPs, and payers)

  • Supporting global and regional clinical/medical plans, clinical trials, safety reporting, and regulatory interactions

  • Acting as a scientific resource for study teams and departments

  • Ensuring all activities comply with regulations, guidance, GCP, company policies, and global quality standards


🧠 Primary Responsibilities

1. Business & Customer Support (Pre- and Post-Launch)

  • Support planning of symposia, advisory boards, and meetings with HCPs

  • Assist medical information associates in preparation and review of medical letters and materials

  • Support training of medical personnel, including medical and outcomes liaisons

  • Review and prepare scientific responses to customer questions and media requests

  • Support data analysis, slide sets, abstracts, posters, and manuscripts

  • Build and maintain relationships with external scientific experts, thought leaders, and professional societies

  • Provide congress support: presentations, medical booth staffing, advisory interactions

  • Participate in clinical trial data reporting in Clinical Trial Registries

2. Clinical Planning

  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Scientists/Physicians, statisticians, and investigators on protocol and data collection

  • Participate in investigator identification and selection

  • Ensure completion of study administrative requirements (ethical review, informed consent, regulatory approvals)

  • Provide scientific training to study teams and site personnel

  • Serve as a resource for monitors, investigators, and ethical boards

  • Review IIT proposals and publications

  • Align Phase 3b/4 and early-phase studies globally

  • Monitor patient safety and track adverse events per corporate policies

3. Regulatory & Scientific Support

  • Stay informed of clinical practice trends and competitive products

  • Evaluate and disseminate medical literature and developments relevant to the product

  • Act as scientific consultant and protocol expert

  • Explore opportunities for extramural scientific experiences

  • Attend and participate in medical congresses and symposia

4. General Responsibilities

  • Serve as an ambassador for patients and the Lilly brand


🎓 Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO)

  • Board eligible or certified in a medical specialty, or equivalent post-medical school training

  • Non-U.S. physicians must have education from an LCME-recognized medical school


🛠 Preferences

  • Clinical and research experience in Obesity

  • Board-certified/licensed clinician in Endocrinology and Metabolism

  • Previous pharmaceutical experience in medical affairs or development

  • Knowledge of drug development process

  • Strong leadership, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills

  • Ability to balance scientific priorities with business priorities

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed

  • Fluent in English, verbal and written

💰 Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $213,000 – $312,400

  • Eligible for company bonus
