Position Overview

As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients. This internship provides hands-on experience in a community pharmacy setting within an institutional environment. Under the supervision of licensed pharmacists, you will enhance your clinical knowledge, develop essential pharmacy skills, and participate in patient-centered care.

Location: Onsite – Methodist Community Pharmacy, Methodist Dallas Medical Center
Schedule: Evenings only, PRN/Part-Time


Key Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain patient profiles in the pharmacy information system.

  • Enter prescription plan information for processing and adjudication.

  • Input all new patient prescription information accurately.

  • Assist in resolving insurance, reimbursement, and payment issues.

  • Support business goals and metrics for the Ambulatory Pharmacy.

  • Prepare and retrieve medications for pharmacist verification.

  • Generate inventory reports and ensure proper stock management.

  • Handle inbound calls and triage to appropriate staff.

  • Assist in reviewing and managing adjudicated prescription claims.

  • Provide pharmacists with information for therapeutic consultations.

  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) companies to resolve plan-specific issues.

  • Monitor and maintain ambulatory dispensing robotic technology.

  • Deliver medications and pharmaceutical supplies to patients as part of the concierge prescription program.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) program.

  • Experience: Previous pharmacy experience (internship, externship, or work experience) preferred but not required.

  • Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

    • Basic knowledge of pharmacology, medication management, and pharmacy law.

    • Proficiency with pharmacy software and electronic health records (EHR).

    • Commitment to high-quality patient care and professional standards.
