Position Summary

The Pharmacist Specialist – Nights role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care and specialized pharmacy operations while working a structured overnight schedule. The role is ideal for pharmacists with strong teamwork, communication, and clinical expertise, who are passionate about delivering safe, effective, and evidence-based pharmacotherapy.

This position emphasizes specialized pharmacy services, including medication safety, regulatory compliance, clinical research support, and experiential training for healthcare professionals.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and maintain patient medication records, screening for allergies, drug interactions, therapeutic duplications, and appropriate dosing.

  • Accurately enter and verify medication orders for both inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Identify, report, and document suspected adverse drug reactions promptly and according to regulatory requirements.

  • Prepare and dispense medications, including intravenous admixtures, using aseptic technique in compliance with sterile product preparation standards.

  • Interpret and evaluate physician orders to ensure accurate, safe, and effective pharmacotherapy in accordance with State Pharmacy Practice Acts, Federal Drug Laws, and other regulatory standards.

  • Supervise pharmacy technicians, assistants, student interns, and ancillary personnel in the provision of pharmaceutical care.

  • Provide drug information, education, and mentorship to healthcare professionals and pharmacy students.

  • Support specialized pharmacy operations, including medication safety, informatics, inventory management, research, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.

  • Current Pharmacist license in the practicing state.

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Residency OR minimum 3 years of experience in specialized pharmacy operations/services.

  • Relevant certifications or training in specialized areas such as informatics, medication safety, regulatory, quality, or medication therapy management preferred.
