Position Overview

The PRN Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in patient care by obtaining new patient clinical information, reviewing prescriptions, and ensuring accurate data entry in pharmacy systems. This compliance-critical role requires strict adherence to corporate, divisional, and regulatory guidelines. The position includes minimal weekend shifts and onsite presence in Darby, Pennsylvania.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and verify patient clinical and therapeutic information.

  • Create and maintain accurate patient profiles in the pharmacy information system.

  • Enter prescription plan and coverage information for accurate prescription processing and adjudication.

  • Process point-of-sale transactions and manage front-end maintenance, including restocking and merchandising.

  • Prepare medications for pharmacist review and verification.

  • Comply with all regulatory and organizational policies and procedures.

  • Manage inventory, including submitting orders, receiving stock, and organizing supplies.

  • Answer inbound calls and triage appropriately based on call nature.

  • Assist pharmacists with drug price checks, restocking, and other operational tasks.

  • Support marketing and promotional campaigns as needed.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Education & Experience

  • 1–2 years of progressive experience in an ambulatory pharmacy setting.

  • Associate’s degree preferred.

  • Pharmacy Technician certification from a state or national technical certification organization preferred (may be required in certain states).


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work efficiently under time and volume constraints.

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

  • Ability to resolve patient issues effectively and creatively.

  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical products, drug interactions, and pharmacy services.

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Analytical skills for accurate data handling and reporting.
