Job Summary

The Director, Country Clinical Operations Management serves as the strategic and operational leader for Clinical Operations at the country level. The role is responsible for overseeing clinical trial execution, site management, resource planning, quality compliance, budget management, and team leadership across multiple therapeutic areas. This position ensures timely, high-quality delivery of clinical studies while supporting AbbVie's global research and development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Operations Leadership

  • Define and execute country-level clinical operations strategy aligned with AbbVie business priorities.

  • Lead clinical trial activities from feasibility and site selection through study closeout.

  • Provide strategic oversight for all country-level Clinical Development Operations deliverables.

  • Ensure clinical studies are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality standards.

Clinical Trial Management

  • Oversee country and site feasibility assessments.

  • Develop site selection strategies and expand the clinical research site network.

  • Monitor study progress, performance metrics, KPIs, KRIs, and operational risks.

  • Ensure scientific integrity and quality of clinical trial execution.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, coach, and develop clinical research professionals.

  • Conduct performance management, talent acquisition, and succession planning.

  • Identify training needs and implement development plans.

  • Build and maintain a high-performing, collaborative clinical operations team.

Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate with global and local cross-functional teams.

  • Partner with Medical Affairs and R&D leadership to advance clinical research initiatives.

  • Foster strong relationships with investigators, research sites, healthcare institutions, and external stakeholders.

  • Promote AbbVie as a preferred clinical research partner.

Quality & Compliance Management

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • ICH-GCP Guidelines

    • Global and Local Regulatory Requirements

    • AbbVie Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Maintain inspection readiness across all clinical operations activities.

  • Lead audit and regulatory inspection preparedness.

  • Identify risks, implement mitigation strategies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Budget & Resource Management

  • Manage country-level clinical operations budgets and forecasts.

  • Ensure optimal allocation of resources across studies.

  • Lead workforce planning and recruitment activities.

  • Monitor financial performance and communicate budget status to leadership.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Preferred fields:

    • Pharmacy

    • Life Sciences

    • Nursing

    • Medicine

    • Clinical Research

    • Healthcare Sciences

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of clinical research experience.

  • Extensive experience in:

    • Clinical Trial Management

    • Study Monitoring

    • Site Management

    • Clinical Operations

    • Drug Development

  • Experience across multiple therapeutic areas and study phases.

  • Strong understanding of:

    • ICH-GCP

    • Regulatory Requirements

    • Clinical Trial Conduct

    • Drug Development Processes

  • Minimum 2+ years of people management experience.

Salary Criteria

Expected Salary: ₹55–85 LPA (Fixed) + Performance Bonus + Long-Term Incentives for candidates with 10–15+ years of Clinical Operations leadership experience, depending on therapeutic expertise, people-management experience, and global trial management exposure.
