About the Role

AstraZeneca is seeking a Senior Data Programmer – CPQP Programming to join the Clinical Pharmacology and Quantitative Pharmacology (CPQP) Data Programming team. In this pivotal role, you will prepare, program, validate, and analyze data to support Pharmacometrics and Clinical Pharmacology modeling and simulation (M&S). Your contributions will span early and late-phase drug development, impacting study design, dose justification, and go/no-go decisions.

You will work with multi-source clinical datasets, including SDTM and ADaM, transforming them into analysis-ready data for software such as NONMEM. This role requires advanced programming skills, a strong quantitative background, and the ability to drive innovation in Pharmacometrics data management.


Key Responsibilities

Data Programming & Integration

  • Clean, manipulate, transform, and integrate clinical trial data at study and compound levels.

  • Pool data from SDTM/ADaM datasets to prepare analysis-ready datasets for Pharmacometrics M&S software.

  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.

Pharmacometrics Support

  • Collaborate with Pharmacometrics and Clinical Pharmacology teams to support modeling and simulation analyses.

  • Contribute to study design, dose selection, and regulatory submission activities.

  • Apply advanced data integration and statistical programming techniques to enhance analytical workflows.

Process Improvement & Innovation

  • Support internal initiatives to advance Pharmacometrics programming practices.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in data programming and analysis.

  • Stay up-to-date with evolving industry standards, CDISC conventions, and regulatory requirements.


Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Engineering, Life Sciences, or related quantitative discipline.

  • 6–8 years of relevant industry experience in clinical data programming.

  • Strong SAS and R programming skills; knowledge of Python desirable.

  • Expertise in CDISC standards, SDTM, and ADaM dataset preparation.

  • Knowledge of global regulatory requirements, compliance, and clinical development processes.

  • Quantitative/Scientific background in Statistics, Biological Science, or Engineering.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with Pharmacometrics modeling software (NONMEM, Monolix, R, Matlab).

  • Knowledge of pharmacology, drug targets, and therapeutic areas (Oncology, Respiratory, Renal, Metabolism).

  • Prior exposure to regulatory submissions or global clinical trial programs.
