Specialty Oncology Clinical Pharmacist
Location: Uppsala
Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Scheduled Hours: 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary:

Join us in providing direct patient care to optimize specialty medication therapies in oncology. As a Specialty Oncology Clinical Pharmacist, you will play a key role in improving patient outcomes, safety, and medication cost utilization. This role requires expertise in Specialty Pharmacy and Oncology, working closely with patients to ensure appropriate therapy and enhance overall patient care.

You will be responsible for counseling patients, verifying prescriptions, and offering guidance on medication therapy. In addition, you will provide educational resources, manage pharmacy operations, and contribute to achieving departmental goals. The pharmacist may also be required to be on call to support the specialty pharmacy.

Job Description:

Patient Care & Medication Review:

  • Provide excellent customer service and guidance following AIDET principles.
  • Review patient treatment medications for appropriateness based on clinical guidelines and patient-specific needs.
  • Perform final professional review and verification of prescriptions and offsite orders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Drug Information & Counseling:

  • Provide accurate, timely drug information to patients, medical staff, and nursing teams.
  • Counsel patients on medications and recommend over-the-counter products, ensuring no pharmacological or physiological contraindications.

Supervision & Staff Development:

  • Supervise and mentor Pharmacy Interns and Technicians, ensuring tasks are completed on time and that ICARE and AIDET values are adhered to in all interactions.
  • Report any unresponsive behaviors to the leadership team.

Inventory & Order Management:

  • Maintain inventory levels, manage orders, and ensure the appropriate products are stocked. Follow sound accounting practices and contribute to financial goals.
  • Act as a liaison to departments like Hospice, Social Services, and Specialty Pharmacy.

Professional Competency & Regulatory Adherence:

  • Maintain licensure and complete all departmental competency assessments.
  • Stay up-to-date with pharmacy practice and continue developing specialized skills.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, including those from the State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, CMS, FDA, and The Joint Commission.

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall pharmacy operations.

Education, Credentials, and Licenses:

  • Graduate from NABP-accredited pharmacy college.
  • Active U.S. pharmacist license in the state where work is being performed.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Effective multitasking and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of current practice standards (ASHP).

Experience:

  • Previous pharmacy experience required.
