Job Summary

The Specialty Pharmacy Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare provides direct patient care to optimize specialty medication therapies, enhancing patient outcomes, safety, and cost utilization. The position emphasizes customer service, accurate medication handling, and the provision of educational support to patients. Experience in Specialty Pharmacy and Oncology is highly desirable.


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional customer service using the AIDET model.
  • Review and monitor patient treatment medications for safety and adherence to clinical guidelines.
  • Perform final professional review and verification of prescription filling and facility orders.
  • Provide accurate drug information to patients, medical staff, and nursing staff.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy interns and technicians, ensuring timely task completion and adherence to standards.
  • Manage inventory and orders, ensuring accurate accounting practices and product availability.
  • Act as a liaison between departments such as Hospice, Social Services, Meds to Beds, and Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Maintain professional competency through licensure, skills assessment, and continuous education.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines (State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, CMS, and The Joint Commission).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Credentials:

  • Graduate of an NABP-accredited pharmacy college.
  • Current US pharmacist license in the state where the work is performed.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask and provide excellent customer service.
  • Familiarity with current pharmacy practice standards (ASHP).

Experience:

  • Previous pharmacy experience is required.
