Job Summary:
The St. Elizabeth Healthcare Specialty Oncology Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for providing direct patient care in the specialty pharmacy setting. This role focuses on optimizing specialty medication therapies to improve patient outcomes, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate has experience in Specialty Pharmacy and Oncology. The pharmacist will offer counseling, review prescriptions, and ensure safety and appropriateness of prescribed therapies while delivering exceptional customer service and educating patients.

Job Description:

  • Customer Service Excellence: Provide exceptional service following AIDET, ensuring respect, kindness, and empathy in every interaction.
  • Medication Review: Monitor patient treatment medications for appropriateness based on clinical and institutional guidelines, ensuring safety and efficacy.
  • Professional Review & Verification: Provide the final review of prescriptions and offsite facility orders, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Drug Information: Provide accurate and timely drug information to patients, medical staff, and nursing staff.
  • Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise and mentor pharmacy Interns and Technicians, ensuring proper task completion and promoting the AIDET model of interaction.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory and order medications from the appropriate wholesalers, ensuring product availability while adhering to sound accounting principles and financial goals.
  • Cross-department Liaison: Act as a liaison between various departments, including Hospice, Social Services, Meds to Beds, Specialty Pharmacy, and provider offices.
  • Professional Development: Maintain licensure and competency, completing necessary assessments and staying current on pharmacy practices.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines from the State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, CMS, FDA, and The Joint Commission.
  • Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Credentials, Licenses:

  • Graduate from an NABP-accredited pharmacy school.
  • Current U.S. pharmacist license in the state where practicing.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with current pharmacy practice standards (ASHP).

Experience:

  • Previous pharmacy experience required.
