Job Summary:
The Specialty Oncology Clinical Pharmacist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare provides direct patient care through specialty pharmacy services, focusing on optimizing specialty medication therapies to enhance patient outcomes, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate should have experience in Specialty Pharmacy and Oncology.

The pharmacist is responsible for reviewing medications, providing counseling, ensuring accuracy, and addressing any interventions needed for patients receiving prescriptions. They will also manage inventory, supervise pharmacy interns and technicians, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, this role involves being an educational resource and offering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide top-notch customer service using AIDET.
  • Review and monitor patient medications based on clinical guidelines and patient-specific needs.
  • Conduct final professional review and verification of prescriptions.
  • Provide timely and accurate drug information to patients, medical, and nursing staff.
  • Supervise and mentor Interns and Technicians, ensuring timely task completion and proper behavior according to ICARE values.
  • Maintain inventory, order management, and contribute to budget goals.
  • Act as a liaison between departments (e.g., Hospice, Social Service, Specialty Pharmacy, provider offices).
  • Maintain professional competency by staying current on pharmacy practices and completing competency assessments.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory guidelines (State Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, CMS, The Joint Commission).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from NABP-accredited pharmacy college.
  • Current US pharmacist license in the state of practice.
  • Previous pharmacy experience.

Specialized Knowledge:

  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with current practice standards (ASHP).
