Position Overview

Pfizer is seeking an experienced Director, Internal Medicine Field Medical (MD) to provide advanced scientific expertise in the Migraine therapeutic area. This role oversees strategic field medical operations, scientific engagement, and clinical collaboration across a broad network of external medical stakeholders (EMS).
Preferred candidate residence: Northern California, Oregon, or Western Washington.

The Director will deliver medical education, lead advisory initiatives, support evidence generation, and ensure alignment with Pfizer’s medical strategy to improve patient outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership and Medical Strategy

  • Develop and execute field medical strategies across the designated therapeutic area and assigned geography.

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge of migraine, internal medicine, disease-state guidelines, and Pfizer’s product portfolio.

  • Provide accurate, evidence-based therapeutic information to internal and external stakeholders.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Engage EMS segments through meaningful scientific exchange and compliant communication.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries according to Pfizer guidelines.

  • Lead advisory boards, scientific discussions, and professional forums with oversight from medical leadership.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with U.S. and Global Medical Affairs, Research & Development, and Global Product Development teams to support medical strategy execution.

  • Contribute to identification of clinical trial sites, including those serving diverse and underrepresented patient populations.

  • Serve as a medical resource for investigators, researchers, and cross-functional partners.

Research and Evidence Generation Support

  • Support Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) processes.

  • Stay updated on congress data, scientific literature, and evolving therapeutic evidence.

  • Apply principles of study design, methodology, and data interpretation during scientific engagements.

Operational Excellence

  • Maintain compliance with Pfizer policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.

  • Manage a high volume of scientific activities in a remote environment with strong prioritization and time-management skills.

  • Participate in cross-functional committees, special projects, and patient advocacy initiatives.

  • Demonstrate leadership in mentoring, onboarding, and supporting field medical colleagues.


Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • MD or DO degree required.

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant medical/clinical or field medical experience required.

  • Recognized subject matter expertise across internal and external healthcare networks.

  • Strong leadership background with experience influencing and collaborating across matrixed teams.

Skills and Capabilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for diverse scientific audiences.

  • High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder needs and resolve conflict constructively.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage remote scientific projects with strong judgment and organizational skills.

  • Ability to lead change and adapt to evolving healthcare environments.

  • Proficiency with digital tools for medical communication and documentation.

  • Strong clinical reasoning and technical skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Field Medical experience.

  • Familiarity with Pfizer SOPs, compliance standards, and medical engagement regulations.


Work Requirements

  • Ability to travel 40–50%, including regular air travel for EMS meetings and internal business needs.

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license meeting company standards.

  • Any DUI/DWI or impaired driving citation within the past seven years is disqualifying.


Compensation and Benefits

Annual Base Salary Range:
$219,800 – $366,400 (varies by U.S. location)

Additional Incentives:
