Role Overview

We are seeking a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) / Senior MSL to support the launch of a newly approved targeted therapy for ALK-positive non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This field-based remote role will cover the East Coast (Maine to Florida). Candidates must live near a major airport hub within the assigned territory.

The MSL/Sr. MSL will serve as a scientific expert in oncology, facilitating peer-to-peer scientific exchange with healthcare professionals (HCPs), key opinion leaders (KOLs), and professional societies. This role involves engaging with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the accurate dissemination of clinical, scientific, and value-based information while adhering to regulatory and corporate guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary medical contact for assigned territory, maintaining scientific expertise in ALK+ NSCLC standards of care.

  • Engage in scientific exchange with KOLs, HCPs, and institutions regarding clinical data, therapeutic strategies, and pipeline developments.

  • Develop and implement KOL engagement plans; maintain long-term collaborative relationships within the oncology community.

  • Conduct pre-launch and top account profiling to understand patient care pathways, treatment protocols, and value-based considerations.

  • Provide clinical and scientific support for company-sponsored clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies (IIS/IIST).

  • Facilitate advisory boards, congress meetings, and internal medical trainings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with commercial teams to ensure alignment with strategic product imperatives.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical inquiries, providing compliant and scientifically accurate information.

  • Maintain compliance with corporate SOPs, regulatory guidelines, and industry standards for scientific interactions.

  • Provide insights from KOL and HCP interactions to inform internal strategies and product positioning.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MD, MSN, or NP/PA) required.

  • Experience:

    • MSL: Minimum 2 years of MSL experience, with at least 1 year in oncology or rare disease; familiarity with gene therapy preferred.

    • Sr. MSL: Minimum 5 years in pharma, with 3 years in oncology or rare disease; prior product launch experience required.

  • Strong scientific, clinical, and business acumen with exceptional communication, networking, and presentation skills.

  • In-depth understanding of ALK+ NSCLC standards of care, clinical protocols, and trial outcomes.

  • Proven ability to engage KOLs and payers with scientific and value-based evidence.

  • Willingness and ability to travel frequently (~70%), including overnight stays for KOL meetings, clinical sites, congresses, and internal trainings.

  • Experience with NCI Cooperative Groups, Oncology Research Consortiums, and institutions in assigned territory preferred.

  • Targeted therapy and oncology product launch experience.

  • Experience communicating with payer systems and formulary committees.

  • Proven ability to translate complex clinical data into actionable insights.

  • Strong organizational, planning, and territory management capabilities.
