Role Overview
The Medical Writer II (Systematic Literature Review Writer) is responsible for designing, conducting, and managing systematic literature reviews, meta-analyses, and targeted literature searches. This role involves developing research protocols, analyzing scientific evidence, synthesizing clinical data, and delivering high-quality reports to support clinical and regulatory decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and manage literature review services, including systematic literature reviews (SLR), meta-analyses, and targeted literature searches.

  • Refine literature review questions in collaboration with project leads and develop detailed research protocols.

  • Design and implement literature search strategies for electronic databases such as PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library, along with grey literature sources including conference proceedings and regulatory databases.

  • Screen abstracts and full-text articles to assess relevance based on PICO (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome) criteria.

  • Perform critical appraisal of studies to evaluate methodological quality, risk of bias, and heterogeneity for inclusion suitability.

  • Develop and review PRISMA flow diagrams documenting study selection processes.

  • Extract, analyze, and synthesize data from selected studies using predefined templates and conduct meta-analyses where applicable.

  • Prepare evidence tables, statistical summaries, figures, final reports, and presentation materials, identifying trends and insights.

  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality of deliverables in compliance with scientific and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Master’s or PhD in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.

  • 3–6 years of experience in medical writing, systematic literature reviews, evidence synthesis, or clinical research.

  • Strong knowledge of SLR methodology, PRISMA guidelines, and evidence-based research practices.

  • Experience with literature databases such as PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library.

  • Understanding of clinical trial data, epidemiology, and biostatistics principles.

  • Excellent scientific writing, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a global team environment.
