Role Summary:
Pfizer is seeking a Senior Medical Director – Gastroenterology & Rheumatology (Non-MD) to join the US Specialty Care Medical Affairs (US SCMA) team. This role supports both current in-line and pipeline assets in the therapeutic areas of Gastroenterology and Rheumatology. Reporting to the US SCMA Lead, the Senior Director will provide strategic medical and scientific guidance, incorporating patient and physician perspectives to drive impactful business decisions. This position operates in a cross-functional environment, requiring leadership, collaboration, and high-level strategic thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical & Scientific Expertise

  • Serve as a trusted subject matter expert for assigned therapeutic areas, including disease states, product labels, competitive medicines, and scientific literature.

  • Evaluate benefit-risk profiles for therapies, integrating emerging clinical and real-world data.

  • Translate complex medical and commercial information to deliver actionable insights to internal stakeholders.

Strategic Planning & Collaboration

  • Drive strategic planning and contribute to business initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Collaborate with Global and regional Medical Affairs, Marketing, and research teams to guide lifecycle planning and operational strategies.

  • Provide input into publications, scientific communications, and US promotional materials to ensure accuracy and compliance.

External Engagement & Representation

  • Lead and organize advisory boards, congresses, symposia, and other external meetings.

  • Represent Pfizer in external collaborations, committees, and partnerships, delivering expert medical insights.

  • Ensure incorporation of patient and physician perspectives into business strategy and operational planning.

Leadership & Team Contribution

  • Mentor colleagues and support cross-functional teams to achieve strategic objectives.

  • Manage vendors, budgets, and resource allocations in support of medical affairs programs.

  • Continuously develop professional expertise and leadership skills to support organizational growth.

Qualifications & Experience Required:

Education & Training:

  • PhD or PharmD degree with 7+ years of industry experience, preferably in US Medical Affairs.

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic outcomes.

  • Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Clinical experience treating patients with immunoinflammatory conditions.

  • Prior work experience in Rheumatology or Gastroenterology.

  • Experience contributing to publication strategy, advisory boards, and medical communications.

Work Arrangement & Travel:

  • Hybrid work model (onsite average 2–3 days per week).

  • Ability to travel up to 25% for external engagements.

  • No relocation package offered.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual base salary: $214,900 – $341,100

  • Eligible for Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a 22.5% bonus target and participation in long-term incentive programs.
