🎯 Position Overview

The Global Safety Officer (GSO) – Vaccines plays a key role in ensuring the safety and benefit–risk balance of Sanofi’s vaccines portfolio.
As part of the Patient Safety & Pharmacovigilance (PSPV) team, you’ll provide strategic medical safety expertise, lead safety management initiatives, and collaborate globally across functions to protect patients and strengthen Sanofi’s scientific excellence.


⚙️ Main Responsibilities

🔹 Safety Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead Safety Management Teams (SMT) and contribute to Benefit–Risk Assessment Committees (BRAC).

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of periodic safety reports and related documents.

  • Represent the Pharmacovigilance (PV) position in Global Project Teams (GPTs), Safety Management Committees (SMCs), and BRACs.

  • Provide safety evaluations and prepare responses to regulatory authorities and business partners.

🔹 Safety Strategy & Collaboration

  • Partner with Preclinical and Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Medical Affairs, Legal, and Global Business Units to deliver integrated safety strategies.

  • Offer medical and safety expertise on risk management, benefit–risk assessments, and risk minimization measures.

  • Drive continuous improvement in PV processes, methodologies, and audit/inspection readiness.

🔹 Signal Detection & Risk Assessment

  • Apply signal detection, biostatistical, and pharmacoepidemiological methods to identify and assess safety signals.

  • Interpret and synthesize complex scientific data to refine product safety profiles.

  • Support development and post-marketing safety surveillance activities.

🔹 Leadership (Optional – Lead GSO)

  • Mentor and guide junior GSOs in a matrixed environment, promoting consistency and excellence across portfolios.


🧠 About You

Education

  • Medical Doctor (M.D. or D.O.) — preferably a board-certified specialist.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant clinical or industry experience in pharmacovigilance, drug safety, or therapeutic practice.

Experience

  • Strong background in pharmacovigilance, risk management, and regulatory compliance.

  • Hands-on experience in clinical practice (hospital setting preferred).

  • Proficiency in signal detection/evaluation and benefit–risk methodologies.

  • Understanding of drug development and global safety regulations.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced analytical and scientific data interpretation abilities.

  • Skilled in summarizing complex safety findings for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Familiar with digital safety systems and data-driven PV tools.

Soft Skills

  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated, with excellent prioritization and organization capabilities.

  • Adaptable to evolving digital and regulatory environments.

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written).
