Role Overview

Amgen is seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Physical Security to lead security operations at our Hyderabad site. Reporting to the Vice President, Global Security and Chief Security Officer, this role is responsible for safeguarding people, assets, and operations through comprehensive security programs, technology management, crisis planning, and team leadership.

This position offers the opportunity to shape security strategy, drive continuous improvement, and lead high-performing teams in a dynamic, global environment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Site Physical Security Oversight

  • Lead a team of 2–3 internal security staff and manage 40+ onsite contractor personnel.

  • Design, implement, and enforce site-specific security policies and procedures.

  • Conduct regular threat, risk, and vulnerability assessments.

2. Access Control & Technology Management

  • Oversee deployment, maintenance, and integration of physical access control systems (PACS), CCTV, intrusion detection, and other security technologies.

  • Ensure system integrity, compliance, and alignment with global standards.

3. Crisis and Emergency Management

  • Develop and implement emergency response and evacuation plans.

  • Lead crisis management strategies and conduct regular drills and training in collaboration with local authorities and global teams.

4. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead, coach, and manage the security team and support staff.

  • Collaborate with HR, Legal, Facilities, EHS, and IT to align security with business objectives.

  • Provide regular briefings to executive leadership and communicate strategic security initiatives across the organization.

5. Vendor & Guard Force Management

  • Oversee local contract security providers, including staffing, training, and performance management.

  • Manage vendor contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and performance metrics.

6. Security Compliance & Audit

  • Ensure compliance with global security policies, local regulations, and auditable standards.

  • Support internal and external audits and implement corrective actions as required.


Qualifications & Experience

Educational Requirements:

  • Doctorate + 4 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement, or Security experience
    OR

  • Master’s + 8 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement, or Security experience
    OR

  • Bachelor’s + 10 years of Corporate, Law Enforcement, or Security experience

Managerial Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of direct people management or leadership experience managing teams, projects, or resources

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 15+ years in corporate security or related functions

  • Proven leadership and autonomous self-management skills

  • Extensive India/regional experience with strong law enforcement relationships

  • Executive protection program management experience

  • Strong technical proficiency with access control systems and security technologies

  • Experience managing third-party vendors and contract negotiations

  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills
