Role Overview

Taylor Strategy Partners (TSP), a Syneos Health company, is seeking a Director of Business Development – West Coast to lead new client acquisition and revenue growth across the life sciences sector. This senior commercial role is designed for a proven business development leader with strong consultative selling expertise, deep understanding of healthcare talent solutions, and the drive to build long-term executive-level client partnerships.

In this role, you will own territory-level growth, expand strategic accounts, and represent TSP’s full portfolio of talent and advisory services across pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device organizations.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Revenue Growth

  • Identify, research, and develop new business opportunities across the West Coast life sciences market

  • Drive net-new sales and gross profit growth within the assigned territory

  • Lead consultative sales cycles, from initial outreach through contract negotiation and close

  • Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified prospects using CRM and market intelligence tools

  • Negotiate pricing, scope, and commercial terms to secure profitable, long-term client engagements

Client Engagement & Solutions Design

  • Serve as a primary external point of contact for prospective and existing clients

  • Design and present customized talent and workforce solutions aligned to client business needs

  • Partner closely with TSP leadership and delivery teams to align solutions with client objectives

  • Maintain strong executive-level relationships and act as a trusted advisor to HR and business leaders

Sales Strategy & Market Presence

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to define weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales targets

  • Develop high-quality proposals, presentations, and sales materials

  • Represent TSP at industry meetings, networking events, and client visits

  • Travel regularly within the West Coast territory to support face-to-face client engagement

This role supports sales across TSP’s comprehensive offerings, including:

  • Recruitment Process Outsourcing (RPO)

  • Executive and Professional Search

  • Sales Accelerator Solutions

  • Consulting and Talent Assessment

  • Employer Branding and Storytelling Solutions


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s degree required; preference for Business, Marketing, Human Resources, or Life Sciences

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience selling professional services

    • Proven success selling into HR, Talent Acquisition, or executive leadership functions

    • Prior experience selling RPO, executive search, or talent solutions strongly preferred

    • Demonstrated ability to originate and close new business in a competitive market

  • Industry & Technical Skills:

    • Understanding of the life sciences industry preferred

    • Existing relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device leadership highly desirable

    • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as Salesforce

    • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital sales tools

    • Experience leveraging email marketing and social media for business development

  • Core Competencies:

    • Strong negotiation, presentation, and influencing skills

    • Self-starter mindset with a proactive, hunter-style sales approach

    • Strategic thinking combined with executional discipline

    • Ability to build trust and long-term partnerships with senior stakeholders
