Overview
We are seeking a senior-level Associate Director, Medical Affairs to provide strategic leadership across the United States and Canada (UCAN) region. This remote leadership role supports Healthcare Systems and Technologies portfolios, driving medical strategy, scientific engagement, evidence generation, and cross-functional collaboration.

The position is designed for experienced Medical Affairs professionals with deep clinical expertise and a proven record of leadership in life sciences, healthcare technology, or pharmaceutical organizations. The role operates at both regional and global levels, influencing scientific strategy, field medical excellence, and evidence-based innovation.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Affairs Strategy and Scientific Leadership

  • Provide regional leadership for Medical Affairs strategy across assigned product portfolios.

  • Support new product development with strong clinical and scientific rigor.

  • Identify evidence gaps and collaborate with Global Medical Affairs teams to implement regional evidence-generation strategies.

  • Develop and execute scientific communication and Non-Promotional Education (NPE) plans aligned with portfolio strategy.

  • Design and lead advisory boards, investigator meetings, roundtables, and scientific forums.

  • Represent Medical Affairs at national and international congresses, translating scientific insights into actionable strategies.

  • Monitor emerging scientific trends, competitive data, and regulatory developments impacting business strategy.

  • Ensure alignment with global teams on publications, clinical trials, advisory boards, continuing medical education initiatives, and literature strategy.

  • Oversee grants, sponsorships, and Investigator-Initiated Research (IIR) programs with strict compliance oversight.

  • Contribute to internal scientific and clinical training for commercial and cross-functional teams.

Field Medical Affairs Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team.

  • Establish and execute strategies for Key Opinion Leader (KOL) identification and engagement.

  • Drive performance excellence through defined external engagement metrics.

  • Support company-funded research initiatives and medical education programs.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Advanced healthcare degree (MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).

  • Minimum 10+ years of clinical experience, preferably in ICU, Med-Surg, or Clinical Informatics.

  • Prior experience in Medical Affairs within pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare technology industries.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing or mentoring field medical teams.

  • Strong understanding of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), clinical trial design, and biostatistics.

  • Experience in clinical trial oversight, scientific publication strategy, and evidence generation.

  • Proven ability to engage with healthcare professionals, KOLs, and regulatory stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.

  • Excellent presentation and scientific communication capabilities.

  • Digital proficiency, including advanced presentation development skills.

  • Ability to travel up to 50 percent.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Compensation
Estimated base salary range: USD $184,000 – $253,000 annually.
Compensation may vary based on geographic location, experience, market data, and business considerations.
