Job Overview

The Associate Creative Director, Copy is a senior creative leadership role responsible for shaping impactful, compliant, and insight-driven messaging for healthcare and pharmaceutical brands. This position blends creative strategy, copy excellence, and people leadership to deliver meaningful brand experiences that educate, engage, and activate healthcare professionals and patient audiences.

As a key member of the creative leadership team at GSW, you will guide the voice of multiple brands, partner closely with cross-functional teams, and translate complex scientific information into compelling, human-centered narratives that drive measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Creative & Strategic Leadership

  • Own and lead copy strategy across assigned brands, campaigns, and channels.

  • Partner closely with Art Directors to ensure cohesive verbal and visual storytelling.

  • Translate brand strategy, market insights, and customer needs into powerful creative concepts.

Content Development & Execution

  • Develop high-quality long-form and short-form copy across digital, print, social, and experiential platforms.

  • Ensure brand voice consistency, message clarity, and full compliance with medical, legal, and regulatory (MLR) standards.

  • Collaborate with UX, Technology, and Customer Experience teams to align content with platform and user requirements.

Client & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Provide strategic and creative leadership during client meetings, workshops, and presentations.

  • Participate in market research, message testing, and insight discovery to refine creative approaches.

  • Act as a trusted creative advisor, offering clear rationale and storytelling behind concepts and executions.

People Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor, coach, and manage copywriters at various career stages.

  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance creative culture.

  • Guide team development while ensuring quality, consistency, and innovation across deliverables.

Experience & Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related discipline

Experience Required

  • 8–10 years of total agency experience in copywriting and creative development

  • 6+ years in pharmaceutical or healthcare advertising, including copy leadership responsibilities

  • Proven experience leading copy across multi-channel, regulated healthcare campaigns

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional copywriting, storytelling, and conceptual thinking skills

  • Strong ability to translate complex medical and scientific content into clear, engaging messaging

  • Deep understanding of social and digital platforms, including emerging content formats and cultural trends

  • Demonstrated experience navigating medical, legal, and regulatory review processes

  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and mentoring capabilities

Compensation

  • Annual Base Salary: CAD 115,000 – 135,000

  • Compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and role proficiency

  • Eligibility for performance-based incentives or bonuses may apply
