Job Overview

GSW, a leading full-service healthcare communications agency, is seeking a talented Art Director to join its Santa Monica creative team. This role offers the opportunity to design impactful, insight-driven advertising solutions that engage healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patient/consumer audiences across multiple platforms.

As an Art Director, you will play a key role in shaping brand visual identities within the healthcare and pharmaceutical space, collaborating closely with creative leadership, experience designers, and technology teams to deliver high-quality, integrated creative work.

This position supports the GSW Santa Monica team and requires availability during Pacific Standard Time (PST) business hours.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design, and execute advertising campaigns for healthcare brands targeting HCP and patient audiences

  • Develop creative assets across digital, print, and emerging media platforms

  • Present creative concepts and visual strategies clearly to internal teams and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with Creative Directors, Associate Creative Directors, and Design Directors to maintain and elevate visual standards

  • Manage revisions and feedback efficiently through all stages of project development

  • Create cohesive brand systems, including typography, visual identity, and design frameworks

  • Partner with Experience Designers and technologists to deliver integrated, user-focused solutions

  • Contribute to tactical ideation and asset development in collaboration with subject matter experts

  • Apply design theory and best practices to solve complex communication challenges


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • 1–2 years of professional experience in advertising, graphic design, or visual communication

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Visual Arts, Advertising, or a related field (preferred)

  • Strong foundation in visual design principles, typography, layout, and composition

  • Experience working across digital and print formats

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, agency environment

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking and executional excellence


Preferred Skills & Competencies

  • Exposure to pharmaceutical advertising or healthcare marketing

  • Understanding of user-centered and iterative design processes

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new tools, platforms, and creative approaches
