Role Overview

The Associate Director, Strategic Insights plays a critical role in strengthening Syneos Health’s commercial positioning across European pharmaceutical markets. This role combines strategic thinking, advanced analytics, and commercial storytelling to support new business development and client-facing engagements.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Strategic Operations Insights, the Associate Director partners closely with Business Development, Commercial Leadership, Operations, and Finance to develop data-driven strategies, market insights, and compelling pitch narratives that address complex client challenges.

This is a highly visible role offering broad exposure to commercial strategy, market access dynamics, team sizing, targeting models, and competitive intelligence across Europe.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Commercial Insights

  • Develop strategic insights to support new business opportunities across European pharmaceutical markets

  • Conduct market landscape assessments, competitive analyses, and commercial opportunity sizing

  • Translate research and analytics into clear, actionable recommendations aligned to Syneos Health commercial offerings

Business Development & Client Engagement

  • Partner with Business Development and Commercial Leadership to create client proposals and pitch decks

  • Deliver analytical and strategic content during customer-facing pitch meetings

  • Provide ongoing consultative support to identify growth opportunities and build long-term client partnerships

Research, Analytics & Knowledge Development

  • Leverage primary and secondary research, commercial data sets, and internal subject matter expertise

  • Analyze prescribing patterns, patient journeys, and access considerations across multiple European markets

  • Develop concise overviews of therapeutic areas, promotional strategies, and pharma market challenges

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Finance, and subject matter experts to align on feasible, executable strategies

  • Facilitate knowledge sharing across the Commercial organization

  • Respond to ad hoc analytical and insight requests from internal stakeholders


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field

  • Master’s degree preferred (MBA, MPH, PhD, or equivalent)

Professional Experience

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in one or more of the following within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry:

    • Strategic or secondary research

    • Commercial analytics

    • Consulting or advisory services

    • Business development or commercial strategy

  • Experience supporting European pharmaceutical markets, including understanding of prescribing behavior, patient pathways, and access dynamics


Technical & Analytical Skills

  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with basic statistical modeling concepts

  • Working knowledge of common pharmaceutical data sets (e.g., sales, prescription, market performance data)

  • Ability to synthesize large data sets into clear strategic narratives
