Role Summary

The Director, RWE & Epidemiology will lead global epidemiology and real-world evidence studies, primarily focusing on pneumococcal conjugate vaccines (PCVs). This role involves managing long-term scientific projects, collaborating with internal and external experts, and integrating insights within a multi-disciplinary team to support vaccine effectiveness, impact, and regulatory objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Epidemiology & Evidence Generation

  • Conduct epidemiologic studies, including primary field studies and secondary analyses of real-world data.

  • Develop and review study protocols, reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed manuscripts.

  • Provide input on study design, methodology, protocols, and analytic plans for high-priority studies.

  • Innovate approaches to address global questions on bacterial infectious diseases and vaccines.

Collaboration & External Engagement

  • Establish and maintain relationships with external partners and experts for high-priority global studies.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Vaccines Medical, Research Units, Chief Medical Officer organization (Medical Evidence Generation, Regulatory, Safety, Data Sciences & Analytics, Medical Enablement & Quality).

  • Partner with statisticians and data scientists to analyze and interpret epidemiologic and vaccine study data.

Leadership & Project Management

  • Oversee collection of epidemiologic and scientific data to support vaccine labeling and regulatory decisions.

  • Manage complex, long-term projects from conception to completion, including design, implementation, analysis, and reporting.

  • Provide cross-functional leadership and mentorship, influencing colleagues and guiding teams to achieve meaningful outcomes.


Qualifications

Required

  • Advanced degree (PhD in Epidemiology or related field with 5+ years experience, MD with 4+ years, or MPH/other relevant Master’s with 7+ years experience).

  • Expertise in vaccinology and infectious disease epidemiology.

  • Strong epidemiological and statistical skills for observational/non-interventional studies.

  • Experience conducting vaccine effectiveness and impact studies.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate within large cross-functional matrices.

  • Proven track record of scientific writing and lead authorship in ≥5 peer-reviewed publications.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience managing global projects from start to finish, including design, analytic plans, execution, and reporting.

Preferred

  • Experience with vaccine-related or vaccine-preventable disease projects.

  • Significant cross-functional leadership experience.


Work Schedule & Travel

  • Travel: <15%

  • Hybrid work: average 2.5 days per week on-site


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $169,700 – $282,900

  • Bonus: Pfizer Global Performance Plan (20% target)
