🧬 About the Role

The Clinical Research Director (CRD) in Immunology & Inflammation (Rheumatology) is responsible for designing and executing the clinical development strategy for innovative therapies in autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
This leadership role combines scientific expertise, clinical strategy, and operational oversight to advance drug development from early discovery through late-stage clinical trials.


⚙️ Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement clinical development strategies and plans aligned with global project objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional clinical sub-teams to design and execute clinical studies.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Translational Medicine, Biostatistics, Drug Safety, Marketing, etc.) to ensure strategic alignment.

  • Ensure all studies adhere to GCP, ICH, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Oversee creation and review of clinical documents (protocols, investigator brochures, IND/CTA, NDA submissions, and integrated development plans).

  • Lead interactions with Health Authorities and contribute to regulatory submissions.

  • Advance scientific and clinical knowledge in rheumatologic and autoimmune diseases.

  • Collaborate with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and external experts.

  • Represent Sanofi at major scientific and regulatory meetings.

  • Integrate new digital, translational, and trial methodologies to enhance research efficiency.


🎓 Education & Experience

  • MD or MD/Ph.D. in Immunology, Rheumatology, or related life science discipline.

  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in clinical development, either in the pharmaceutical industry, academia, or health agencies (NIH, FDA, etc.).

  • Demonstrated experience in translational medicine and drug development.

  • Deep understanding of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases, particularly rheumatology.

  • Proven ability to advance programs from discovery through clinical development.
