Senior Statistician – Medical Devices | Abbott, Witney (UK)

Job Summary

Abbott’s Diabetes Care division is hiring a Senior Statistician for its Medical Devices Centre of Excellence in Witney, Oxfordshire. This is a fantastic opportunity to be involved in end-to-end global clinical trials for glucose monitoring systems like the FreeStyle Libre Flash. You will provide crucial statistical expertise to research scientists and engineers, influence the development of innovative medical devices, and lead a small team. This role suits statisticians eager to see direct patient impact from their work in clinical research and medical technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide statistical leadership across multiple R&D projects related to glucose monitoring technology.

  • Support full-cycle clinical trials from protocol development to data analysis and publication.

  • Collaborate with R&D, clinical, data management, and regulatory teams.

  • Apply a wide range of statistical methods to support both clinical research and product development.

  • Lead and mentor a small team of statisticians and support their professional growth.

  • Communicate complex statistical concepts to cross-functional teams.

  • Contribute to the development of pipeline products and global market expansion initiatives.

  • Participate in Abbott’s network of Statistics professionals to share best practices and drive innovation.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • BSc or higher in Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.

  • Strong proficiency in SAS and clinical data analysis.

  • 3+ years’ experience in clinical trial statistics (medical device or pharma preferred).

  • Ability to lead or mentor small teams (leadership experience advantageous).

  • Excellent communication skills for non-statistical audiences.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities.

  • Must be willing to work on-site in Witney, UK (office-based role).
