Role Summary

The Senior Patient Recruitment and Engagement Lead is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing global patient recruitment and retention strategies. This includes serving as a strategic functional lead across internal and client-facing teams, supporting diversity planning, optimizing vendor performance, and ensuring goals are met throughout the clinical trial enrollment lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities

Functional Leadership

  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) for patient recruitment and retention strategy

  • Train project teams on best practices and coordinate with Project Leads and CRAs

  • Track enrollment metrics and produce progress reports

Strategic Planning & Risk Mitigation

  • Identify barriers to recruitment and design risk mitigation strategies

  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to tailor recruitment solutions to protocol and patient population

Vendor & Financial Oversight

  • Manage third-party vendor performance and ensure timely invoice processing

  • Work closely with finance on budgeting for provider services

  • Coordinate communication among sponsors, vendors, and project teams

Diversity & Inclusion

  • Partner with the Patient Diversity Team to embed inclusive strategies into study design

  • Monitor diversity metrics and report to clients regularly

Operational Excellence

  • Support patient enrollment optimization and post-study knowledge sharing

  • Contribute to bid defenses, proposal development, and strategic growth initiatives


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal academic/vocational qualification

Experience

  • 5–8 years of direct patient recruitment experience or equivalent in a clinical trial setting

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing communication skills

  • Skilled in data analysis and interpretation

  • Working knowledge of patient privacy laws and clinical trial regulations

  • Experience with project management software and reporting tools


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range (NC-based estimate): $75,000 – $126,000

  • Target Compensation Range (East Coast role): $100,000 – $140,000 + bonus eligibility
