Job Overview

Exelixis is seeking an experienced Senior Oncology Account Manager to lead strategic commercial execution across the Washington, DC territory. This is a senior, field-based role designed for accomplished oncology sales professionals with deep market expertise and established healthcare relationships. The successful candidate will independently manage complex accounts, contribute to brand and launch strategy, and act as a trusted partner to oncology stakeholders while upholding the highest standards of compliance and ethical engagement.

This role plays a critical part in driving sustainable growth, supporting product adoption, and shaping a high-performance, patient-focused culture.


Key Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic account and territory plans across a complex or multi-state geography to achieve sustained commercial performance

  • Build, expand, and manage strong professional relationships with oncologists, healthcare providers, key opinion leaders, integrated delivery networks, and institutional decision-makers

  • Promote scientific understanding and appropriate use of Exelixis oncology therapies through compliant, value-driven engagement

  • Apply advanced analytics, market intelligence, and customer insights to refine territory strategies and influence internal business planning

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, access, reimbursement, and medical teams to address clinical, operational, and market access challenges

  • Represent field insights during brand planning, forecasting, and tactical innovation discussions

  • Identify emerging market trends, competitive dynamics, and unmet clinical needs within the territory

  • Support pull-through initiatives in partnership with payer and access teams

  • Serve as a field ambassador for product launches, pilots, and enterprise-wide strategic initiatives

  • Provide mentorship, best-practice sharing, and informal coaching to less experienced field colleagues

  • Consistently demonstrate excellence in professionalism, ethics, and regulatory compliance


Experience Required

  • Minimum 5 years of oncology sales experience in a specialty or hospital-based environment

  • Proven new product launch experience within oncology

  • Demonstrated success managing complex territories and high-value oncology accounts

  • Prior experience influencing cross-functional teams without direct authority is strongly preferred


Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in a relevant discipline with 9+ years of related experience, or

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline with 7+ years of related experience, or

  • An equivalent combination of education and professional experience
