Senior Director of Business Development – Clinical & Regulatory Services

Job Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Director of Business Development to spearhead our growth strategy across North America. This high-impact leadership role is responsible for identifying and securing new business in full-service Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, and Pharmacovigilance/Safety Services. The role requires a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen, a robust industry network, and a proven record of exceeding growth targets in the life sciences sector.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Business Development:

  • Own and execute a territory growth plan aligned with global P&L and new business objectives

  • Drive end-to-end BD lifecycle including prospecting, proposal development, presentations, and contract negotiation

  • Cultivate executive-level relationships with pharma/biotech sponsors, especially within clinical operations, regulatory, and R&D divisions

  • Leverage Navitas’ full-service capabilities to deliver integrated solutions across Clinical, Regulatory, Safety, and Generics

Sales Pipeline Management:

  • Qualify and manage high-priority leads through the sales pipeline

  • Achieve or exceed annual territory sales and growth targets

  • Maintain accurate documentation in CRM and deliver ongoing sales activity reports

  • Conduct bid defenses, lead contract negotiations, and represent the company in key sales engagements

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Client Partners, Delivery, and Operations teams to align offerings with client needs

  • Liaise across global delivery models to support complex, multi-region opportunities

  • Engage with internal stakeholders to co-develop solutions tailored to current industry demands

Market Intelligence & Networking:

  • Actively network in the life sciences ecosystem to uncover emerging trends and opportunities

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and trade shows

  • Gather intelligence on competitors’ positioning, pricing, and service models


Candidate Profile:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred in Life Sciences, Business, or related discipline

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 8 years in business development roles in Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, or PV/Safety services

    • Demonstrated history of meeting/exceeding sales targets year-over-year

    • Deep understanding of early-phase clinical trials and regulatory strategies

    • Experience managing long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder accounts

    • Familiarity with FSP, CRO business models, and outsourcing trends

  • Industry Network: Strong existing relationships with decision-makers (e.g., Heads of Clinical, Regulatory, R&D) in pharma/biopharma companies

  • Skills:

    • Strategic thinking and analytical mindset

    • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills

    • Ability to work independently and across global, cross-functional teams

    • Excellent time management and multitasking in a high-pressure, deadline-driven environment


Travel Requirement:

  • Willingness to travel up to 75% for client meetings, conferences, and business development engagements


Estimated Salary: $160,000 – $210,000 USD annually (base), plus performance-based incentives and benefits
