Registered Dietitian Malnutrition Informatics Specialist

Starting Salary: $80,000 per year
Location: Remote position with up to 50% travel required to area facilities

Malnutrition Program Management:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the hospital's malnutrition programs in the assigned area.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of the malnutrition program in improving patient outcomes and increasing malnutrition recognition.
  • Analyze monthly hospital site-specific data.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor trends in malnutrition diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes, and make data-driven recommendations for program adjustments.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with physicians, nursing staff, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals to foster a collaborative approach to malnutrition management.
  • Lead or participate in multidisciplinary committees, meetings, and training sessions to raise awareness about malnutrition and ensure best practices in screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
  • Ensure staff are knowledgeable about current malnutrition-related guidelines, tools, and evidence-based practices.

RD Support:

  • Conduct ongoing monitoring and training on malnutrition assessment and documentation for RDs and CNMs, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of the malnutrition program.
  • Assist RDs and facilities in achieving a quality standard of care, adhering to ASPEN guidelines when screening and assessing for malnutrition.
  • Assist Corporate Regional RD with monitoring RDs' clinical competency for regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clinical coverage in areas of responsibility as needed, including completing documentation of nutrition assessments/follow-ups for patients at risk of malnutrition.
  • Adhere to all HHS policies and procedures.

Quality Assurance:

  • Regularly assess program performance and impact through data collection, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Provide reports to HHS leadership on program outcomes, including trends in malnutrition rates, identification accuracy, and overall impact on patient care and revenue.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement based on data trends and feedback from clinical teams.
  • Advocate for organizational policies and clinical practices that promote early recognition, accurate diagnosis, and appropriate treatment of malnutrition.

Job Specifications:

  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and a Licensed Dietitian as required per state regulations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a related clinical role.
  • Expert knowledge of malnutrition, including NFPE per ASPEN guidelines.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and ability to effectively communicate with healthcare professionals.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to conduct oneself positively.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in data collection and analysis using Excel spreadsheets and proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage personnel remotely, and travel 50% of the time (both air and ground).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with clients, customers, management teams, and clinical teams.
