About the Role

The R&D Patient Engagement Country Lead will ensure patient engagement is integrated into Sanofi’s clinical research and development programs at the country level.
You’ll collaborate closely with Health Value Translation Leads, Public Affairs, and Medical Affairs to align patient insights with Sanofi’s Patient Disease Strategy (PDS) — driving faster, more inclusive, and patient-focused clinical trials.

This is a high-impact role that goes beyond traditional clinical operations, embedding patient perspectives early in the drug development process to improve access, design, and outcomes of Sanofi’s global R&D portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Patient Engagement & Strategy

  • Implement local patient engagement strategies aligned with global R&D and Public Affairs goals.

  • Support the creation and execution of the Patient Disease Strategy (PDS) at the country level.

  • Integrate patient insights into the Clinical Development Plan, Integrated Patient Journey (IPJ), and trial design.

  • Ensure local stakeholder alignment (Regulatory, Clinical Ops, Payers) with the engagement strategy.

🔹 Collaboration & Partnership

  • Lead patient advocacy collaborations that connect local patient organizations (PAGs) to Sanofi’s R&D teams.

  • Align engagement plans with local/global Public Affairs and Medical Affairs teams.

  • Ensure mutual value between Sanofi and PAGs, measured through the Partnership Quality Survey (PQS).

  • Demonstrate tangible benefits from collaborations (e.g., improved recruitment timelines, study design enhancements, or regulatory advantages).

🔹 Data, Digital & Insights

  • Integrate local Real World Evidence (RWE) data opportunities into the PDS.

  • Leverage digital and AI technologies to enhance engagement, data collection, and operational efficiency.

  • Perform gap analyses in patient data with global teams to identify knowledge needs and inform strategies.

  • Translate local patient preferences into measurable outcomes and endpoint selections.

🔹 Cross-functional Leadership

  • Partner with Clinical Study Units (CSUs) to accelerate clinical trials through patient-centric approaches.

  • Serve as the primary country contact for the Health Value Translation (HVT) and Clinical Outcomes Assessment (COA) teams.

  • Create the local Integrated Patient Journey (IPJ) for each indication.

  • Lead and evolve Sanofi’s Integrated Patient Engagement (IPE) strategy at the local level.

🔹 External & Industry Influence

  • Represent Sanofi in global patient-focused initiatives (e.g., PFDD, IMI, TransCelerate, PALADIN).

  • Track and integrate external trends and policy changes into local patient engagement practices.

  • Contribute to publications, webinars, and case studies on Sanofi’s IPE achievements.
