Overview

Genmab is seeking a highly motivated Applied AI & Clinical Technology Innovation Intern to join its Digital Development organization for a 10-week summer internship. This role provides hands-on experience applying AI, automation, and modern software tools to enhance clinical development processes in a highly regulated (GxP), data-driven environment.

This internship is ideal for students pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical/quantitative fields who are passionate about digital innovation, workflow automation, and AI-driven solutions.


Key Responsibilities

AI & Automation Development:

  • Design, prototype, and enhance AI- or automation-driven tools that improve workflows across clinical development.

  • Build low-code solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio) to streamline manual processes.

  • Apply generative AI and internal AI technologies to support practical clinical use cases.

Process Mapping & Evaluation:

  • Conduct process mapping and requirement gathering to identify operational pain points and areas for efficiency gains.

  • Assist in evaluating new clinical technologies, including CTMS enhancements and workflow orchestration tools.

Proof-of-Concept Development:

  • Participate in proof-of-concept development, including testing, documentation, iteration, and presentations to stakeholders.

  • Ensure solutions adhere to GxP, data privacy, and security standards while delivering measurable impact.

Collaboration & Mentorship:

  • Work closely with developers, automation engineers, product owners, and AI specialists.

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver tangible project outcomes and final presentations demonstrating internship impact.


Required Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical/quantitative field.

  • Foundational experience in at least one of the following:

    • Programming (Python, JavaScript, or similar)

    • Low-code / automation tools (Microsoft Power Platform, UiPath, etc.)

    • Applied AI or data science coursework

    • Full-stack development or cloud engineering (AWS)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual thinking skills.

  • Ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences effectively.

  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and able to work in multidisciplinary teams.

  • High attention to detail, accountability, and quality in regulated or data-sensitive environments.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with generative AI, LLM-powered workflows, or prompt engineering.

  • Experience with workflow automation, low-code app building, or scripting.

  • Exposure to software development best practices (version control, modular code, documentation).

  • Understanding of GxP compliance, AI traceability, data privacy, and cybersecurity principles.

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause analysis).

  • Curiosity, creativity, and a proactive mindset to address ambiguous problem spaces.


Internship Details

  • Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite in Princeton, NJ; 2 days remote per week.

  • Eligibility: Open to Bachelor’s or Master’s students; not eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • Experience: Gain practical exposure to applied AI, clinical technology innovation, low-code development, and workflow automation in clinical development.

  • Mentorship & Development: Collaborate with digital development teams to create actionable prototypes and pilot-ready solutions.
