Job Overview

The Manager – Projects & Strategic Scientific Affairs will play a critical leadership role in designing and executing high-impact scientific and strategic initiatives aligned with the EPD 2025 vision: “To transform the way people of India use medicines.”
This role requires strong expertise in medical affairs, scientific advocacy, stakeholder management, and digital healthcare strategies, with extensive engagement across KOLs, medical societies, institutions, and internal cross-functional teams.

This position is ideal for professionals with proven experience in pharma consulting, marketing excellence, medical strategy, or scientific project leadership within multinational environments.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic & Scientific Leadership

  • Design, develop, and implement short- and long-term scientific strategies aligned with business and therapeutic priorities.

  • Independently lead transformative medical and scientific projects across multiple affiliates and business units.

  • Provide scientific competitive intelligence and strategic insights to Medical Affairs and commercial teams.

  • Support medico-marketing strategy development through data-driven situation analysis and growth lever identification.

KOL & External Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build, manage, and sustain relationships with 1,000+ Key Opinion Leaders across 12 therapeutic areas and 35 business units.

  • Drive external scientific advocacy with 300+ top KOLs and 30+ government and non-government institutes/agencies.

  • Collaborate with 20+ national and state-level medical associations and societies across India.

  • Liaise with state and regional medical associations across 25 states for impactful implementation of corporate scientific initiatives.

Digital & Scientific Outreach

  • Lead scientific outreach and access strategies using digital platforms and tools.

  • Collaborate with digital teams for scientific engagement through platforms such as ACare across three affiliates.

  • Drive initiatives to strengthen Medical Affairs’ digital capabilities and innovative scientific communication models.

Cross-Functional & Project Management

  • Work closely with finance, legal, purchase, and compliance teams for contract development and execution with external stakeholders.

  • Coordinate with publishers for publication of clinical studies, position papers, and scientific content.

  • Lead planning and execution of national medical conferences and Abbott signature scientific programs.

  • Support society and institutional relationship development for both medical affairs and commercial teams.

Therapeutic Area Support

  • Provide strategic and on-demand scientific support across key therapeutic areas including:

    • Gastroenterology

    • Diabetes & Metabolic Diseases

    • Cardiology

    • Psychiatry

    • Adult Immunization

    • Insomnia

    • Immunity and Vitamin C research


Key Competencies

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical market, therapy trends, and data-driven medico-marketing strategies.

  • High proficiency in stakeholder management, analytics, and strategic planning.

  • Proven experience in executing high-quality medico-marketing and scientific initiatives.

  • Strong digital healthcare knowledge and technology adoption mindset.

  • Ability to collaborate across commercial and cross-functional teams to build science-led brand reputation.

  • Visionary thinking with the ability to define and adapt scientific strategy based on evolving market dynamics.


Education Qualifications

  • MBBS / Pharmacy Graduate / Science Graduate

  • MBA from a reputed institute (preferred)


Experience Requirements

  • 3 to 7 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, consulting, or medical strategy roles.

  • Prior experience handling digital healthcare projects or large-scale scientific corporate initiatives at a strategic level.

  • Candidates currently working as Manager – Marketing Excellence, Group Product Manager, Strategic Consultant, or similar roles in MNC pharma organizations are highly preferred.
