Job Overview

Novo Nordisk India is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Medical Manager to join its Clinical Development Centre-India in Hyderabad. This strategic medical affairs role is ideal for experienced medical professionals who are passionate about clinical development, early-phase trials, and scientific leadership. The position plays a critical role in shaping and executing clinical development strategies for Novo Nordisk’s growing pipeline in India.

As a Clinical Medical Manager, you will provide scientific and medical leadership across clinical trials, strengthen investigator relationships, and contribute to high-quality trial execution while supporting early portfolio development in key therapy areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver scientific strategy to ensure clinical trial excellence across assigned therapy areas

  • Partner with Clinical Operations Therapy Area Leads and Trial Managers on early trial planning, study start-up, recruitment, retention, and execution

  • Provide scientific input for trial portfolio review, country allocation, site feasibility, and site selection processes

  • Conduct periodic site visits to assess trial conduct, address medical queries, and gather actionable scientific insights

  • Engage and build long-term relationships with Principal Investigators, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), and site staff

  • Act as the local subject matter expert for product protocols and early clinical data discussions

  • Support optimization of trial methodologies and proactively mitigate recruitment and retention challenges

  • Monitor trial performance and address scientific issues in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders

  • Contribute to mapping and updating clinical care pathways to support effective patient recruitment and retention

  • Build organizational readiness by co-designing scientific training and knowledge-building initiatives

  • Support early portfolio development and pre-launch activities through scientific engagement

  • Communicate Novo Nordisk’s pipeline strategy and scientific narrative to internal and external stakeholders

This role involves periodic travel to clinical trial sites within the assigned geography and occasional visits to the India Head Office.


Experience Required

  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in clinical development, clinical research, or medical affairs roles within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry

  • Prior experience in strategic medical or clinical trial oversight roles is mandatory


Qualifications

  • M.B.B.S with M.D. in a relevant medical discipline

  • Strong background in clinical practice and/or clinical research

  • In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and the clinical trial lifecycle

  • Sound knowledge of ICH-GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and clinical trial methodology

  • Proven ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams with an enterprise mindset

  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with strong stakeholder management capabilities

  • Willingness to travel regularly for clinical trial site engagement

  • Ability to leverage digital tools, data-driven approaches, and emerging technologies including AI

  • Strong problem-solving skills, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset

The Clinical Development Centre-India (CDC-India) is a core part of Novo Nordisk’s Clinical, Medical, and Regulatory (CMR) organization. The Clinical Medical Management team plays a pivotal role in executing clinical trials, supporting early pipeline strategies, and delivering scientific leadership across therapy areas.
