Job Overview

The Senior Clinical Development Operations Analyst – BI Development serves as a subject matter expert for clinical operations reporting and analytics solutions. This role focuses on designing, developing, and supporting advanced Power BI dashboards and data models that enable actionable insights across clinical development operations. The position partners closely with clinical stakeholders, IT teams, and business leaders to deliver high-quality, scalable business intelligence solutions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert for assigned clinical reporting systems and BI dashboards, including underlying data structures and reporting logic

  • Respond to customer support and reporting inquiries within defined service timelines

  • Gather and translate business requirements into clear KPIs, metrics, and reporting specifications

  • Design, develop, and optimize Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models

  • Apply best practices in data modeling, including star schema design, fact/dimension tables, and row-level security (RLS)

  • Perform ETL and data preparation across multiple clinical and operational data sources

  • Troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries, DAX calculations, and Power BI performance

  • Deliver routine and ad hoc clinical operations reports, incorporating business feedback and enhancement requests

  • Analyze reporting discrepancies, investigate data issues, and implement corrective actions

  • Develop customized dashboards or queries to support complex or strategic reporting needs

  • Utilize agile development methodologies to rapidly support evolving business requirements

  • Identify opportunities to streamline clinical operations using data flows, automation, or workflow tools

  • Support clinical systems and reporting change management, including testing and validation activities

  • Respond to Service Desk tickets and maintain clear documentation of issues, resolutions, and user communications

  • Develop and deliver training sessions and user documentation for internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, data engineers, SMEs, and clinical leadership

  • Participate in meetings, prepare status updates, and follow up on assigned action items


Core Technical Skills

  • Advanced SQL proficiency, including joins, window functions, and performance optimization

  • Strong expertise in Power BI Desktop, including DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling

  • Solid understanding of BI data modeling standards and governance

  • Experience with ETL processes and multi-source data integration


Preferred / Value-Added Skills

  • Experience with Databricks, including notebooks and Unity Catalog

  • Familiarity with Power Apps and Power Automate for workflow and form integration

  • Exposure to AI-assisted analytics tools, including Copilot for DAX authoring and natural language insights

  • Strong data storytelling and visualization skills


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related discipline

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in business intelligence, clinical reporting, or data analytics

  • Demonstrated experience supporting clinical development or clinical operations reporting environments

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and requirements-gathering experience

  • Proven ability to translate complex data into actionable business insights

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a global, cross-functional environment
