The Opportunity

Abbott’s Electrophysiology (EP) Business Unit is seeking a Senior EP Field Clinical Specialist to provide technical and clinical expertise in cardiovascular therapies and EP technologies. This fully remote, field-based position covers the Central and Western U.S. and requires extensive travel to support clinical trials, site management, and procedural implementation.

As a Senior Field Clinical Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert, bridging clinical research, technical troubleshooting, and medical education. You will work directly with clinical sites, investigators, cross-functional teams, and Abbott leadership to ensure the success of clinical studies and the adoption of innovative EP technologies.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Trial Support & Site Management

  • Provide field support for clinical research enrollment and procedures in EP therapy areas.

  • Act as an expert on protocols, technology, and trial procedures, supporting investigators and research personnel.

  • Coordinate site initiation, qualification, and enrollment strategies to optimize study success.

  • Facilitate budget negotiations, contracts, and study compliance at clinical sites.

  • Monitor adherence to trial protocols and identify solutions to operational challenges.

Technical & Product Expertise

  • Offer technical support and troubleshooting for EP devices and procedures.

  • Participate in product testing, advisory boards, and high-profile presentations.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Affairs, Medical Affairs, R&D, Marketing, and Product Management on key EP BU projects.

Stakeholder Engagement & Knowledge Sharing

  • Act as a scientific interface with healthcare professionals, providing clinical insight and training.

  • Mentor and guide other Field Clinical Specialists in the territory.

  • Share best practices and clinical insights with internal teams to improve trial execution and patient outcomes.

  • Serve as a pipeline between Abbott and the medical community, communicating key feedback to product planning, marketing, and medical affairs teams.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Biological Sciences, or related field; advanced certifications in Cardiology/Electrophysiology preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in cardiovascular clinical work.

  • 2–3 years supporting clinical trials or investigational studies in cardiovascular or EP therapies.

  • Hands-on experience with EP Lab and/or Cath Lab protocols and procedures.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Strong technical expertise, clinical research operations, and EP background.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with ability to influence at multiple organizational levels.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and travel up to 80% during active trial periods.

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.


Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of coronary and peripheral EP technologies.

  • Experience in clinical trial site qualification, patient enrollment strategies, and protocol compliance.

  • Background in Cath Lab or surgical support.

Compensation: USD 78,000 – 156,000 annually (location-dependent)
