Job Overview

The Senior Application Manager provides strategic and technical leadership to a team of application scientists supporting advanced scientific instrumentation and complex analytical workflows. This role combines people management, deep technical expertise, and customer-facing responsibilities to deliver high-quality pre- and post-sales support, training, and consultative solutions. The position plays a key role in strengthening customer satisfaction, driving commercial success, and expanding market presence across multiple industries.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of application scientists, ensuring high technical performance and continuous professional growth

  • Provide subject-matter expertise on advanced analytical instrumentation, workflows, and emerging technologies

Customer & Commercial Support

  • Deliver high-quality pre- and post-sales technical support, including product demonstrations, validations, troubleshooting, and workflow implementation

  • Partner closely with sales and commercial teams to support business growth and market expansion

  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to drive satisfaction, retention, and loyalty

Training & Knowledge Development

  • Develop and deliver technical training programs for internal teams and external customers

  • Ensure team readiness by maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, applications, and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across sales, service, product management, and quality teams to achieve business objectives

  • Support compliance with quality systems, regulatory standards, and internal processes


Required Qualifications

Education

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related discipline with minimum 6 years of relevant experience,
    OR

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field with minimum 8 years of relevant experience

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of people management or technical team leadership experience

  • Proven experience in customer-facing technical support roles within scientific instrumentation or life sciences industries

  • Demonstrated expertise in analytical instrumentation, applications, and complex scientific workflows

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong business acumen with the ability to support commercial and market growth initiatives

  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience designing and delivering technical training programs

  • Advanced problem-solving, project management, and decision-making capabilities

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate in cross-functional environments

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50%

  • Proficiency in English; additional language skills are an advantage

  • Experience working within quality systems and regulated environments

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor, coach, and develop high-performing technical teams
