Job Overview

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly experienced Global Scientific Advisor to join the MedComm, Rare Disease Product and Portfolio Strategy (P&PS) team in Bangalore. This is a strategic role for medical communication professionals with a strong background in rare diseases, clinical medicine, or pharmaceutical research, who are passionate about delivering high-quality, compliant scientific content on a global scale.

You will collaborate with Global Medical Affairs in Zurich and cross-functional teams in India to drive medical education, scientific communication, and publication strategies for rare bleeding disorders, haemoglobinopathies, and rare endocrine conditions. This role emphasizes AI-enabled medical communication, strategic KOL engagement, and thought leadership in the rare disease therapy area.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Strategic Communication

  • Serve as a therapeutic-area expert for rare bleeding disorders, haemoglobinopathies, and rare endocrine conditions.

  • Lead the development, review, and approval of scientific content including slide decks, graphical abstracts, educational materials, and omni-channel engagement tools to ensure accuracy, compliance, and scientific credibility.

  • Provide internal medical guidance, prioritizing launch timelines, and ensuring scientific integrity in all communication materials.

  • Mentor and coach team members to enhance capability in medical communication and strategic initiatives.

Global Medical Affairs & KOL Engagement

  • Plan, execute, and evaluate global medical events, including advisory boards, symposia, scientific programs, and continuing medical education initiatives.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external experts to strengthen scientific dialogue and ensure alignment with global medical strategies.

  • Support publication planning and medical education activities, ensuring consistent messaging across markets.

Innovation & Digital Enablement

  • Leverage and implement AI tools and digital solutions to enhance the efficiency, quality, and reach of medical communication activities.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, value creation, and optimization within medical communication and portfolio strategy.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: MD or PhD in clinical medicine, internal medicine, endocrinology, or related therapeutic area. Additional training in medical communication is an advantage.

  • Experience: Minimum 6+ years in medical affairs or medical communications in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries.

  • Proven expertise in clinical medicine, clinical research, and drug development, with experience in rare disease portfolios preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in independently planning and executing global medical events and publication strategies.

  • Strong ability to influence, collaborate, and communicate effectively with global stakeholders and KOLs.

  • Expertise in creating high-quality, compliant scientific content for external and internal audiences.

  • Familiarity with AI-enabled medical communication tools and digital medical education platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.


About the Department

The MedComm, Rare Disease P&PS team in Bangalore is part of Novo Nordisk’s Global Business Services. The team collaborates closely with Global Medical Affairs in Zurich to communicate complex scientific and medical knowledge to internal and external stakeholders.
