Inpatient Pharmacist - Clinical Pharmacy at Dayton Children's Hospital

Job Overview:

Dayton Children’s Hospital is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care through integrated drug distribution and clinical services. The pharmacist will be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy for patients, working closely with the healthcare team to optimize patient outcomes. This role includes overseeing pharmacy operations, collaborating with the care team, and verifying products prepared by pharmacy technicians.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Pharmaceutical Care: Provide safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy to pediatric patients.
  • Collaboration: Work with the patient care team to monitor the effectiveness of patient therapy and make adjustments as needed.
  • Drug Information: Provide drug information to healthcare professionals, patients, and families.
  • Order Review: Review physician orders to ensure appropriate medication therapy.
  • Medication Dispensing: Oversee the dispensing of medications, ensuring accuracy and safety.
  • Supervision: Supervise pharmacy students and technicians, providing guidance and verification for their work.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that medications prepared by technicians meet safety and quality standards.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree is required.
  • Certification/Licensure:

    • Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in Ohio, with a valid license from the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
