Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking an experienced Inpatient Coder to support high-complexity inpatient coding for an acute care teaching and Level 1 trauma facility. This role requires advanced expertise in coding trauma cases, complex medical conditions, and multispecialty surgical procedures. The position is fully remote and offers flexibility post-training, with an initial requirement for daytime availability.

This assignment is primarily for holiday coverage, with a strong possibility of extension based on business needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform accurate inpatient coding for trauma and complex medical/surgical cases.

  • Code a wide variety of specialties including cardiac, vascular, interventional radiology, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, neurology, transplants, oncology, oral surgery, orthopedics, behavioral medicine, OB/GYN, neonatal care, pediatrics, general medicine, and general surgery.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational coding standards and accuracy requirements.

  • Maintain productivity benchmarks, including 10 complex cases per day and minimum 95 percent accuracy.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and work efficiently within a remote environment.


Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience: 5+ years inpatient coding experience in an acute care teaching hospital and Level 1 trauma center.

  • Demonstrated competency in coding high-complexity trauma and surgical cases across multiple specialties.

  • Professional coding certification required: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.

  • Proficiency with Cerner and 3M systems.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail.

  • Ability to work 40 hours per week with flexibility after training.

  • Self-motivated and disciplined to meet remote-work performance standards.


Work Schedule

  • Initial training week: Monday to Friday, with 2–4 hours daily between 8 AM – 5 PM EST.

  • Post-training: Flexible schedule within reasonable limits.
