Role Overview

Omega Healthcare is hiring an experienced Coder 2 – Inpatient to perform accurate coding of inpatient medical records, including diagnoses, procedures, and DRG assignments. This role supports clinical quality reporting, reimbursement accuracy, research, and strategic healthcare planning. The ideal candidate will have strong coding expertise across acute care, professional fee services, and emergency settings, with the ability to work independently in a remote environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and code inpatient, outpatient, emergency, pro-fee, and clinical medical records in alignment with industry coding standards.

  • Assign accurate principal diagnoses, secondary diagnoses, and procedure codes with correct sequencing.

  • Apply DRG/APC reimbursement guidelines and technical coding principles.

  • Abstract and enter coded medical data into multiple coding systems and encoders.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards including HIPAA, AHIMA, AMA, AHA, CMS, and JCAHO.

  • Analyze clinical documentation to support accurate coding, reporting, and reimbursement.

  • Track daily productivity and maintain required quality benchmarks, including a minimum 95 percent accuracy rating.

  • Ensure confidentiality of all patient information and adhere to organizational compliance standards.

Experience Required

  • 2–4 years of current production coding experience in acute care and professional fee coding environments.

  • Completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Medical Coding Certificate Program.


Required Certifications

Candidates must hold one or more of the following coding credentials:

  • CPC, COC, CIC

  • RHIA, RHIT

  • CCS, CCS-P


Work Environment

  • Fully remote position; standard office equipment used.

  • Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional extended hours or weekend work.

  • Minimal travel (up to 5 percent).
