Inpatient Coder – PRN (Remote, United States)

Position Overview

Omega Healthcare is seeking a highly competent and experienced Inpatient Coder with a strong background in coding for acute care teaching hospitals and Level II trauma facilities. This role requires a coder who is proficient across multiple specialties and capable of delivering high-quality coding outcomes in a flexible, remote work environment. Candidates must demonstrate advanced technical knowledge, accuracy, and independence while working with EPIC and 3M/Solventum systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately abstract, assign, and sequence inpatient diagnoses and procedures across diverse specialties including Critical Care, Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, General Medicine/Surgery, Rehab, Oncology, Pediatrics, and related disciplines.

  • Apply official coding guidelines and acute care facility standards to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Utilize EPIC and 3M/Solventum platforms for coding and documentation.

  • Meet productivity expectations, with a minimum requirement of 2.5 CPH.

  • Maintain a minimum 95 percent coding accuracy across all case types.

  • Adapt to fluctuating volume requirements; weekly hours typically range from 10 to 30, subject to client needs.

  • Participate in initial training during standard hours (8 AM–4 PM CST) and complete additional training as needed.

  • Perform duties in compliance with federal and state regulations, coding standards, and organizational policies.


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of inpatient coding experience within acute care teaching environments and Level II trauma centers.

  • Strong experience coding complex medical and surgical cases across specialties such as:

    • Cardiac and Vascular

    • Interventional Radiology

    • Critical Care

    • Oncology

    • Orthopedics

    • Behavioral Health

    • Neonatal and Pediatrics

    • OB/GYN

    • General Medicine & General Surgery

  • Mandatory Certifications: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.

  • Proficiency with EPIC and 3M/Solventum systems.

  • Ability to meet productivity and quality benchmarks consistently.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently with strong self-discipline in a remote setting.
