Job Summary:
Abbott is hiring a Director of Clinical Insights Development to lead strategic efforts in leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to drive innovation in heart failure diagnostics and treatment. This on-site leadership role focuses on building and guiding a data science team while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to develop predictive clinical models. Key Responsibilities:
Define and lead the clinical insights strategy aligned with Heart Failure Division goals
Lead collaborations with R&D, Clinical Affairs, Marketing, Medical Affairs, and KOLs
Build and mentor a high-performing team of AI/ML scientists and clinical data engineers
Design and implement advanced predictive models using real-world data and ML techniques
Establish scalable data infrastructure in partnership with IT and engineering teams
Ensure full compliance with privacy, data governance, and regulatory standards
Drive external research collaborations with academia and clinical institutions
Represent Abbott as a clinical AI thought leader through publications and conferences
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Master's degree in a scientific/medical field (PhD preferred in Biomedical Engineering, Data Science, or Computer Science)
10+ years of relevant experience in clinical data analysis or AI/ML development
Proven track record in building and managing clinical data science teams
Expertise in developing algorithms for real-world clinical or device data
Experience working within regulated environments (e.g., FDA, medical devices)
Familiarity with global healthcare data systems and regulatory landscapes
Preferred Skills:
10+ years of experience specifically in AI/ML algorithm development
Global experience and cross-functional leadership in medtech or life sciences
Deep understanding of heart failure, digital health, or cardiology clinical pathways
