Job Overview
The Associate Director, Global Medical Affairs plays a critical leadership role in managing complex, cross-functional medical affairs projects while serving as both a Client Manager and Project Leader. This position contributes to the development of global medical affairs strategies, oversees medical content development and MLR review processes, and drives operational excellence across multiple client engagements. The role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage diverse teams and stakeholders in a dynamic, global environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage complex Medical Affairs projects including medical content development, MLR review, and operational excellence initiatives

  • Serve as primary client contact, ensuring delivery of high-quality, timely, and strategically aligned outcomes

  • Oversee cross-functional project teams including internal staff and external consultants

  • Contribute to the design and execution of global Medical Affairs strategies and solution offerings

  • Support innovation initiatives, including adoption of digital tools and advanced technologies in Medical Affairs

  • Drive operational improvements, process optimization, and performance metrics across projects

  • Collaborate with global medical, regulatory, and commercial teams to deliver integrated solutions

  • Develop thought leadership content such as white papers, case studies, and publications

  • Participate in client meetings, strategic discussions, and business development activities

  • Build, mentor, and manage high-performing teams, ensuring continuous learning and capability development

  • Strengthen client relationships, ensuring satisfaction, retention, and growth opportunities

Experience Required

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device industry

  • Proven experience in project management, including vendor and technology management

  • Hands-on experience across Medical Affairs functions such as Medical Information, Medical Communications, HEOR, and Evidence Generation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously

  • Experience working in fast-paced, agile environments is preferred

Educational Qualifications

  • Advanced medical or scientific degree such as PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent

  • Strong expertise in Medical Affairs operations, MLR review processes, and content development

  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and client engagement skills

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
