About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Creative & Graphics Design Team Lead to guide the creation of high-quality medical communication materials and manage a remote, multidisciplinary design team supporting global therapeutic areas.

This leadership role demands deep expertise in medical communication design, strong operational capability, and proven experience managing creative teams in a regulated, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage the Creative & Graphics Design Team supporting Internal Medicine, Specialty Care, Vaccines, and Oncology.

  • Drive a collaborative and innovative team culture focused on excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Oversee resource planning, project allocation, and delivery timelines to ensure optimal workflow.

  • Develop and execute strategies to attract, train, and retain creative talent.

  • Manage onboarding and ensure new hires align with Pfizer’s design standards, tools, and production requirements.

  • Build strong relationships with MCCS Category teams, Business Operations, and Medical Communications leadership teams.

Strategic Medical Communication Development

  • Direct the production of accurate, compliant, and visually compelling medical communication materials including posters, infographics, presentations, publications, videos, and digital content.

  • Collaborate with medical writers, scientific experts, and cross-functional teams to transform complex scientific information into clear visual formats.

  • Ensure alignment of design solutions with therapeutic area goals, regulatory guidelines, and internal quality standards.

Project Management

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while ensuring quality, accuracy, and timely delivery.

  • Develop and monitor detailed project plans covering timelines, budgets, deliverables, and resources.

  • Identify risks early and implement effective mitigation strategies.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure full compliance with brand guidelines, legal requirements, SOPs, and industry regulations.

  • Optimize design workflows and operational processes to enhance productivity and speed.

  • Track and report key performance indicators such as project timelines, resource utilization, and team productivity.

Innovation & Best Practices

  • Stay current with trends in digital design, medical communication, and emerging technologies.

  • Leverage advanced technologies, including AI, AR/VR, and next-generation design tools, to enhance creative output.

  • Introduce new methodologies to improve visual impact and strengthen content delivery.

  • Promote the adoption of new tools and platforms to drive innovation and efficiency within the team.


Required Qualifications (Experience Must Be Included)

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communication Design, Digital Visual Arts, or related fields.

  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience in graphic design within medical communications, healthcare, or the pharmaceutical industry.

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing creative teams in a fast-paced or regulated environment.

  • Advanced expertise with Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Figma, and digital/multimedia production tools.

  • Strong understanding of medical and scientific terminology with the ability to visually communicate complex concepts.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage multiple priorities, and execute high-complexity projects under tight timelines.

  • Strong understanding of design technologies that support medical content development.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in global and cross-cultural environments.

  • Background in medical content strategy, visual communication for medical channels, and omnichannel content development.

  • Rapid adaptability to new technology, digital platforms, and design tools.

  • Experience working with offshore agencies or Global Capability Centers (GCC).

  • Proven success in recruiting, mentoring, and scaling high-performing creative teams.

  • Strong analytical and reporting skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.

  • Track record of delivering complex, large-scale design projects in the medical or pharmaceutical sector.
