About the Role
Pfizer Research & Development is a global leader in scientific innovation and medical advancement. As a Senior Manager, Medical Communications and Content Solutions (MCCS), you will play a critical role in developing, reviewing, and delivering high-quality medical affairs content across multiple formats. This position requires a strong foundation in scientific writing, strategic communication, and medical content development, with the ability to manage complex deliverables independently.
This is a senior-level, remote-based role ideal for professionals with deep expertise in medical communications, publication planning, and cross-functional scientific collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Scientific Content Development
Independently develop, edit, and review high-quality medical content including abstracts, manuscripts, posters, presentations, graphical abstracts, systematic literature reviews, plain language summaries, slide decks, educational materials, social media content, infographics, videos, and other external-facing scientific deliverables.
Conduct detailed research, data interpretation, organization, and quality checks to ensure accuracy, scientific integrity, and clarity.
Manage complex publication and content assignments with minimal supervision.
Review and Quality Assurance
Review content produced by team members for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to target audience needs.
Ensure all deliverables comply with internal quality standards, SOPs, medical guidelines, and industry regulations.
Guide team members on best practices, writing standards, and scientific communication principles.
Training and Capability Building
Train team members on tools, technology platforms, and processes, including generative AI-based solutions used in medical content development.
Mentor colleagues on writing techniques, presentation development, and adherence to compliance frameworks.
Build expertise in new tools and evolving content development practices and support team-wide adoption.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with authors, scientific experts, designers, compliance specialists, statisticians, and other cross-functional partners.
Represent the MCCS team in Scientific Publication Committee Meetings and other scientific forums.
Provide strategic content solutions and drive efficient execution of cross-functional projects.
Operational Execution
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure timely, compliant delivery of all assigned content.
Track project progress, identify potential issues, and resolve them collaboratively with guidance from the Team Lead.
Maintain therapeutic area and product knowledge repositories and support the development of internal process documents.
Innovation and Best Practices
Stay updated on trends in medical communication, digital content, scientific publishing, and emerging platforms.
Drive the adoption of innovative content formats including dynamic, interactive, digital-first, and modular communication approaches.
Ensure the MCCS team remains at the forefront of advanced medical communication practices.
Required Qualifications (Experience Must Be Included)
Advanced scientific degree (MRes, MPharm, MSc, PhD, PharmD, MBBS/MD, MPH or equivalent).
Minimum 7 years of experience developing scientific or medical content within the pharmaceutical industry, biotech, CRO, or academic medical environment.
Proven experience managing medical writing or scientific communication projects end-to-end.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility across cross-cultural and cross-functional teams.
Excellent English writing and communication skills suitable for diverse formats and audiences.
Demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders and leading scientific content initiatives independently.
Understanding of technology applications in medical content development, including advanced tools and digital platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience creating diverse medical content types across therapeutic areas.
ISMPP-CMPP® certification (or progress toward certification).
Experience with multimedia, omnichannel content, and digital-first communication strategies.
Strong ability to learn and adopt new technologies quickly.
Global work or academic experience.
