Job Summary:

The Associate Director, Training Governance is responsible for leading the global standardization and oversight of coder readiness training at Optum. This role develops and governs frameworks to ensure consistent training quality, alignment with operational requirements, and effective cross-regional collaboration. It also plays a vital part in identifying innovation opportunities and eliminating training-related gaps that impact quality or performance.


Key Responsibilities:

Governance & Standardization:

  • Develop and implement a centralized governance framework for coder training readiness

  • Define and enforce minimum training standards (content, delivery, assessment) across all regions

  • Align training with production requirements to eliminate readiness gaps

Training Program Oversight:

  • Oversee global training curriculum development and improvement

  • Ensure content accuracy and consistency

  • Monitor training compliance and apply structured evaluation mechanisms

Cross-Regional Alignment:

  • Act as a central coordination point across regional training teams

  • Facilitate sharing of best practices

  • Harmonize tools, platforms, and evaluation metrics globally

Process Improvement & Innovation:

  • Use data to improve training relevance and effectiveness

  • Implement scalable, tech-driven training solutions

  • Anticipate future training needs and create proactive strategies

Quality Assurance Support:

  • Analyze training-related root causes of QA issues

  • Collaborate with QA teams to align training priorities

  • Report on QA trends linked to training inconsistencies

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Establish and track training KPIs, learner progress, and retention

  • Create and deliver dashboards/reports for leadership

  • Use analytics to drive decision-making


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, HR, Operations, or a related field

  • Experience in a global or cross-regional organization

  • Proven experience in:

    • Training governance

    • Learning and development

    • Process improvement

  • Knowledge of training/development platforms

  • Understanding of quality assurance frameworks

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel

  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership

  • Ability to work in globally distributed environments

  • Ability to drive consistency and standardization across geographies

  • Flexibility to attend meetings outside regular business hours (due to time zone differences)
