About the Role:

The Associate Director (AD) of Society Engagement & Tradeshows will lead strategy and execution of society partnerships and event presence to enhance customer engagement and expand Johnson & Johnson MedTech Heart Recovery’s footprint within medical societies and at major industry meetings.

This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams including product marketing, sales, medical societies, and key opinion leaders to drive strategic initiatives and maximize impact at congresses and conferences.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Society Strategy

  • Lead national strategy for engagement with medical societies and society leadership.

  • Collaborate internally to align society engagement approaches across Heart Recovery platforms.

  • Provide expert insights on engaging KOLs and societies for product development, clinical trials, market positioning, and education.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key individuals and organizations in medical societies.

2. Tradeshow & Event Strategy

  • Develop and execute congress and conference strategies in alignment with marketing and educational goals.

  • Oversee exhibit presence, brand messaging, sponsorships, and cross-functional tactics.

  • Manage and lead a team of tradeshow managers and specialists.

  • Partner with platform leaders to organize symposiums, training, and other initiatives at key events.

3. Sponsorships & Educational Grants

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align grants and sponsorships with company strategy and compliance policies.

  • Liaise with external stakeholders such as medical societies, academic centers, and foundations.

  • Oversee unified sponsorship strategies and ensure adherence to federal regulations, industry codes, and transparency requirements.

4. People Leadership

  • Recruit, lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team.

  • Promote accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

  • Manage performance, provide development feedback, and support career growth.

  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and team engagement initiatives.

5. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Associate Directors, Physician Program Directors, Medical Office, and Marketing teams.

  • Collaborate with events and cross-functional teams to execute national tradeshows and conferences.

  • Use analytics to evaluate activities, recommend improvements, and adapt strategies.

  • Ensure all activities comply with company guidelines, QMS, and regulatory standards.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience:

  • 5+ years in medical affairs, society relations, or customer engagement within life sciences/medical device industry

  • 3+ years of people leadership experience with proven success

  • Experience in conference, tradeshow, or event management

  • Relevant experience in cardiovascular medical device industry

Skills & Abilities:

  • Established relationships with KOLs, medical societies, and academic institutions in cardiovascular space

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, presentation, and facilitation skills

  • Ability to develop consensus across customers, clinical, education, marketing, and sales partners

  • Familiarity with industry codes such as AdvaMed Code of Ethics

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based environment

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite


Compensation & Benefits:

Base Salary Range:

$151,000.00 – $211,600.00 (depending on experience and location)

Additional Compensation:

  • Eligible for a car allowance via Johnson & Johnson’s MOTUS program
